Auditor’s Office Receives Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting
Published on 02 April 2026
The Franklin County Auditor’s Office was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. It is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting.
The GFOA gives this award to state and local governments who go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare annual comprehensive financial reports and demonstrate a high standard of transparency and full disclosure. GFOA also says it congratulates award winners for preparing an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report that meets the certificate program’s strict requirements.
“This recognition reflects our office’s commitment to transparency, accuracy, and accountability in how we report on the county’s finances,” Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano said. “Our team works hard to provide financial information that is thorough, reliable, and accessible to the public.”
The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) provides a detailed look at Franklin County’s finances and is available on the Auditor’s Office website. The office also publishes a Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR), which offers a more accessible, reader-friendly overview of county finances.
The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and the Popular Annual Financial Report are available on the Auditor’s office website: franklincountyauditor.com/fiscal/financial-reporting.
